If i cash a regular check does that mean that there were sufficient funds in the account?

  1. As long as the check doesn't come back later.  Even if your bank holds the funds for a week and then releases the hold, the check could still be returned.  Sometimes it takes a couple months before a bogus check is discovered and returned.

  4. You have to cash a cheque at the bank of the person who wrote you the cheque. When you go to the bank, they will check the records to see if he/she has suffecient funds and will give you cash then and there only if they have the funds. If not, they will not give you the money.

    Depositing in your own bank can result in a bounce check if they dont have suffecient funds. To cash a personal check you have to go to their bank and they will give you the money in cash if they have suffecient funds otherwise they will not.
