  1. Weight savings is HUGE with a full system.  When you get rid of the catalytic converter and the rest of the heavy stock system, you will definitely feel a big weight difference.  I saved 11 lbs with a system from Graves Motorsports on my '06 R6.  Besides the weight savings, you will feel a noticable change in top end power (not really bottom end, since you'll be removing the EXUP system).  The noise is something you'll have to get used to, but I personally love it.  Fuel becomes a bit of an issue, so a power commander (or equivalent) is a good idea.  To get the full gains out of a new exhaust, the fuel mapping will have to be changed.  As with any good performance mod, there are usually accompanying modifications that will make the whole system run properly.  Adding the exhaust just by itself would really make more of a sound difference than power, until you get the fuel figured out.  Find a system with dyno numbers that you like (magazine test numbers are usually more reliable than exhaust manufacturer dyno numbers, because they're not trying to hype up a product), and a system that looks good to you.

  2. depending on why your changing it, Most would do it for torque and speed performance/increase in which case you might also have to have the carb remapped. The cons would be if you didn't remap and you loose  performance

  3. I've never heard of "remapping a carb". Yeah where exactly is the carb on a 2008 sport bike? LOL

Anyhow when you tinker with exhaust you need to change some fuel delivery stuff and air intake. Most opt for a power commander and it's a good idea but not a must have.

If you thought you could just throw a full exhaust on and ride, you're in for trouble and crappy performance.
