  1. It would be for me.

  2. as long as your wall color was light or bright i think it would be the way to go.

  3. No, that would be perfect and utterly beautiful as long as you have proper lighting - and if you don't, just can add some additional/unconventional lighting to brighten up the room.

Make sure to choose lighter counter tops (creams or other warm colors) and paint so the kitchen doesn't get too dark. If you are completely remodeling, go for stainless steel appliances which will add some reflective light.

Here is a link to a site with a bunch of finished kitchens; maybe you can get a couple of ideas about countertop colors and paints: http://finishedkitchensslideshow.blogspo...

  4. That really depends on your taste, and the size of your kitchen. If it is a small kitchen, the dark colors together will overwhelm the space and make it look tiny.

If you have a large kitchen, they will look balanced.

In my opinion, you should balance it out with a light and dark combo. In any design rule, one thing should be the focal point. Are the cabinets the focal point or the floor? You don't want them to compete with one another.

I would go with a lighter floor with cherry cabinets. Go to HGTV online, and check out several ideas for kitchens.

  5. Your best bet is to do the floor in a natural color. If a stain is really what you are after then i wouldn't go any darker than a Butterscotch. And yes....under cabinet lighting is a perfect idea.
