MY bedroom is on the second floor and has 2 vents but doesnt stay cool. Is it because its too big and not enought air.

And if i keep the door closed like all day will it be cooler than if i left it open.

Also there is a big bay window in my room that faces the sun and i have no blinds(just moved in)

  1. Close vents in the cooler rooms so more air will make it to the second floor. Rooms farther away from the a/c have a harder time getting air.

Also, block the sun - a bed sheet or paper taped to the window will work as a temporary solution until you can get proper curtains or blinds.

  2. If the rest of your house is cool, keep the bedroom door open. The air will circulate better. Also buy heavy drapes or wooden blinds to block the sun.

  3. close your bed room door open up your window and you bed room will stay cooler

  4. Because you live on the second floor, It's gonna be warmer than if you lived on the first floor. Heat rises from the first floor. Yes, your room does stay cooler if you keep your door closed. But keeping your door closed would be fruitless if you didnt get blackout curtains for your big bay window. Blackout curtains help keep the heat out during the day and at night it keeps the light out. You could still get light blinds to let light in. ( if you get the morning sun, its not so bad..but if you get the afternoon sun..it can get pretty hot). ( I have an upstairs bedroom and I get the morning sun..it stays pretty cool if i keep the blinds down in the morning... but my sister gets the afternoon sun, if she doesnt keep her curtains and blinds closed during that time, it gets pretty warm in there)

  5. no i would keep it open just a little bit and put paper on my windows until i get blinds
