  1. Simply put, when you delete/uninstall iTunes, you will lose your playlists.

Think of it this way, deleting/uninstalling iTunes in your computer will not erase the music files in your disk, but it will delete your playlists.  Remember the first time you installed iTunes - you had to add your music files into its library and organize them into playlists?  When you uninstall iTunes, all this work is taken with it.  You will need to add your music and organize them into playlists again when you reinstall iTunes.

Therefore, your iPod is not acting retarded.  It doesn't have anything to sync with, really. :)

  2. no

  3. deleting itunes and re-installing it will NOT cause your songs to be lost. The music is all stored on your harddrive, so when you re-install itunes it will detect the music files still in the folder.

  4. You should reformat your iPod since it has the problem. then restore you music after that.

  5. Doesn't sound like a prob with Itunes but rather the ipod. But you CAN delete itunes and reinstall it without losing your music but should back it up first anyway. Itunes music is in My Documents/My Music/itunes Music
