i have adsl broadband with bigpond and home landline with same provider. i dont want to use my landline anymore and thinkin i should disconnect it. my home phone bill is high and will be disconnected soon anyhow but it will take some time for me to pay the home phone bill off. Im always up to date with paying the internet bill so that wont be disconnected... but just wonder if it will be if the phone gets disconnected >?

  1. hmmmmmmmmm

  2. no you cant.yr internet needs yr landline to connect.well what you need to do is dont use yr landline phone.i mean limit it so that, you only use it for the internet connection.avoid anyone to use the phone.just thats the solution.unless you go for wireless connection from some other provider.im not sure, where is yr location and does it available as mine, that at my country,i can use my sim-card and cell phone connect to pc for internet connection.and it is cheaper compare to using the landlines.

  3. ADSL broadband  comes through the phone line:  you must keep the line rental up to date or they cut off the internet...the same as they cut off the phone calls.

If your phone line is cut off they will still charge you for the internet bill, whether you  can use it or not.

If you had another phone line for calls, and it is on the same phone account as the internet line, they will still cut it off. You could try getting the line the internet is on transferred to someone else's name, and  keep paying that..

Arrange to pay off the phone bill in instalments and keep to your promise...even after you get it disconnected, so your credit rating with them doesn't go too bad.

  4. Yes, you just specify with your provider which service(s) that you wish to keep and those that you want to discontinue.

  5. if you get it in a package they will both be disconnected, anyway u will still have to pay the rent for the phone line

  6. no well...i cant. so i got O2 broadband but sometimes it dosent work but alot of the time its fine

  7. Make REGULAR montly payments on your Phone bill and contact the provider to let them KNOW what your intent is....

Communication is important in your situation...

They will note your conversation, and setup a way to keep your DSL and turn your phone off....

You just make sure you pay regularly and you should have no interuption of your services...
