  1. When you go to the dry cleaner's ask to see the back of their reciepts..in the small print they should mention what their stand is, regarding getting your money back or paying for the item, if they damage it. Also, just to be sure, ask politely if they should happen to damage your clothing, what they would do to take care of it.

  2. You could get in touch with Trading Standards, who i am sure deal with things of this nature, you should be able to find their number in the phone book, well it would be worth trying, or as the other person said read the small print at the back of the receipt, or maybe you could get in touch with Which the magazine that deals with consumer problems. But i think that as long as you complained when it happened to the shop them you should have the right to get some form of compensation for them ruining you stuff.

  3. U need to use a reputable dry cleaners, Johnson cleaners UK will compensate u fairly if they cause damage to your clothes. It is important that u point out any stains so that they can give you best advice.

  4. Typically if there is a problem then you take it back and they try to fix it.  If they can't fix it they will offer you something, it depends on the dry cleaners.  As someone else said check the back of the pick up check they give you.  Mine gives a max of 10 times the cost of the service, so it costs $6 to dry clean pants and they would give you $60.  If you go to a good dry cleaners that specializes in cleaning high quality or high dollar items you should be fine.
