  1. no, one you got past the center point, gravity would start pulling you back towards the center. if there was a hole through the earth and you fell into it, you would accelerate until you got to the center, the decelerate until you got to the other side. when you arrived across the world you would reach the surface and come to a stop at exactly the same altitude as you fell from on the other side. the trip would take 40 some minutes.

  2. Assuming for a moment that the center of the earth is solid dirt that you could shovel, and not 5,000 degree molten iron that would vaporize you, you would have a couple of other problems when you got there.  For one thing you would have to chuck the dirt 4000 miles to the surface.  But suppose you had a conveyor system to move the dirt.

The next thing you would notice is that you are weightless, and once you passed the center, gravity would be pulling you back to the center.    You would have to turn around and start digging overhead.  But then, if you had the conveyor system carry the dirt out of the hole, you would have nothing to stand on as you moved upward.

You would need some kind of moveable platform that would be attached to the sides of the hole to support you, and then move itself upward. The good news is that the digging would be easy.  You would just have to loosen the dirt and let it fall back to the center where the conveyor system could take it out.  Of course, your platform would have to be perforated to allow this.  When you broke through the surface in China, you would be sticking your head out of a hole, and nobody would know  how deep it was.

  3. not unless they had exceptional eyesight the diameter of the earth is nearly 8000 miles. i can't see that well myself.

  4. No they would see your head and hands first since the center of gravity of the earth is at it's core and you would have to change positions at this point to correct for the new direction of the gravitational force.

If someone would fall into the hole on one side they would fall to center of the earth and than continue up almost all the way to the other side and continue this back and forth on this falling pattern until wind friction slowed and finally stopped them. (I assume your hole through the earth has air) But what a ride let me know once your done.
