If i fill out a fafsa do i have to go to school?

cause im going to send one in but i haven't signed up to any colleges yet. so if i fill one out and send it in and get money do i HAVE TO GO to school?

do i have to go to school or will i get fined or something if i sign up for classes (at a community college) and don't end up going. im asking cause 'm planning on going but i wanna be able to back out at last minute im not sure if i really WANT to go

  1. I don't believe you have to go to school if you submit a FAFSA.  You're just eligible to receive certain funds if you decide to attend college.


  2. You have to attend a school to be issued any loan money.

    Even if you are registered, if you haven't actually attended a class the money will be sent back.

    If you go to one of those online universities be careful.  If you  don't complete a course or a semester the loan will be returned to the lender, but you would be liable for the costs  of attendance.

  3. You can and should always submit your FAFSA even if you are not sure that you will enroll in school.  Part of the decision of going to school will be if you can afford it and you won't know how much help you can receive if you don't apply. Just remember, if you do not go to school, return any money(checks) sent to you by your campus.

  4. no you can fill out fasfa and not go to school the only way that you will recieve your money is through the school that you are attending they will not cut you a check personally because then everyone would fill out one and just get the money...so go ahead in fill it out just in case you decide to go to school you will already be ready
