If i gave 2 weeks rent deposit how much notic should i give

I have given 2 weeks rent throw my deposit and have to leave the room. the responsablefor the room that is not even the landlord or agent told me i have to give 1 month rent. is this true, because i haven't signed nothing but have a recipt of the amount i paid. what you advise me??
