im in the marine corp.

i make E-4 pay and im probably going to reenlist and i was wondering how much i will get back after taxes.($35,000 reenlistment bonus.)

my state of residence is PA and i dont pay state taxes for being in the military so it would only be paying federal taxes i guess.

i want to figure out how much i will get after taxes and if i will get most of it back after taxes next year.

  1. By law, 25% must be withheld and paid to the feds for bonuses regardless of W-4 withholding selection.  Active-duty pay received for services outside of PA is not subject to PA income taxation.  You will have 6.2% withheld for Social Security and 1.45% withheld for Medicare.

    100% - 25% - 6.2% - 1.45% = 67.35% or $23,572.50 will be your take-home amount.

  2. around $27,000.

  3. Yes around 27-28 thousand
