i want to put a massive exhaust on a nissan sunny will it take more petrol then it normally takes

  1. No it wil not use more fuel.. all you're doing is allowing the exhaust to move out faster, and giving it a louder tone..If you also upgrade the intake.. say a high flow air filter, and a short ram/ cold air kit, then it might use more fuel, as you are allowing a higher volume of air into the engine; coupled with the free flowing exhaust.. the engine will be able to take in/ push out gasses faster than before....


  2. The previous poster was half right.  

    An exhaust that is too big will slow the exhaust flow velocity, which would bog the engine down.

    It will not have anything to do with backpressure or low end torque, which an engine DOES NOT need!

    Really, look it up.  Backpressure being necessary is a myth.

    Torque comes from the crankshaft spinning from combustion forcing down on the pistons, not some exhaust pipe.

  3. No it will not take more fuel. All your doing is giving the car a different exhaust tone.  

  4. your just changing the tone of the exhaust but don't go too big as you will make the car run worse than it does now due to not enough back pressure, you will lose low end torque.
