If i get a deflated basketball in a plane will it inflate by itself and explote? because of the pressure?

I am packing a deflated ball in a suitcase and it will place in the part of the plane which will not be pressured...

  1. Based on experience, it won't inflate by itself and explode.

    Theoretically, still no. A deflated ball does not have anything with which to inflate the ball. If you have thoroughly deflated the ball, then no amount of pressure difference will inflate it. For that to happen, there must be some gas (in this case, air), even a little, to expand due to the low pressure.

    Second, the pressure difference in an airplane is not enough to fill that basketball with a volume of gas. It will definitely inflate to a certain extent, but not enough to have a round shape, and definitely not enough to explode.


  2. No, I've even sent canned drinks, and other stuff in my luggage, such as shaving cream, never had a problem yet.  A basketball is much more stronger then that.  Best of luck to you.
