If i get a iphone from new Zealand, will i be able to use it in india?

My bro wants to get a apple Iphone from new zealand, will i be able to use it here in india by unlocking it here. If yes, how can i get it unlocked and how much it gonna cost me?

i have like 7 unlocked iphones and yes they will work anywhere all i did is download a program called ziphone from the internet.      :]

yes, we can use iphone in india if it is unlocked but the 3G special features like itunes store/Data packet can not be used with any operator in india. We can use it as a normal phone.
