  1. You will not only have to buy a battery, but also a battery charger. These two items will cost almost as much as the trolling motor.-get the whole thing- life is short- enjoy it while you can.

  2. Yes battery & a charge to recharge the battery> Get a deep cycle 27 series>Marine battery>

  3. You'll also need some 6-gauge wire and a 50-amp circuit breaker (or inline fuse holder and some fuses).  Motorguide specs 50-amp, I use a 40-amp on my 36-lb MG, never trips.

And the socket for the boat, to plug the motor into.  MG doesn't include those in the box.

Please don't omit the circuit breaker, or use a smaller-gauge wire than recommended.  That's a sure way to start a fire.

get the biggest heaviest marine deepcycle you can afford.

I use that everstart group 27 from walmart for my trolling motor, works great plus if it fails you can replace it just about anywhere 24/7.

a charger with at 10- or 12-amp setting and automatic "float charge" will help ya get the most out of your battery.

  4. you will indeed need to purchase a battery for it.
