  1. Yes they will work

but it's not advisable that you run it from an extrenal HD.

Why not just move all your data e.g music and videos to the HD and then install the programmes on your computer/laptop

  2. You can, but I wouldn't recommend it. It may be okay for self-contained programs, but it's definitely a bad idea for programs that integrate with the system in any way.

The problem is that programs sometimes hook into file types and object interfaces. If the external drive isn't there, these hooks will fail. This may mean that things that used to work on your system suddenly don't work.

For example, suppose you install Nero on an external drive. Nero hooks the way Explorer generates thumbnails for images. If you remove the external drive, suddenly you'll find that browsing folders with images gets slow and you see broken image icons instead of thumbnails.

  3. Basicly Xactly What Aj Said Lol

  4. Your external hard drive comes with an installation cd

so if you install it on a pc   yes you can copy or install programs on it.

just plug in your externel drive to a usb port and boot your pc  it will come up with new hardware found  install the drivers from the cd that came with your drive.

To use it on your laptop just do the same plug it in and install the  driver.

  5. as long as you install the programs using your laptop onto the harddive, this way the relevant details will be in the registry. If you've used another computer to put them on, then probably not.
