I currently found a site that makes replica black California license plates. I have a 66 mustang and want to make it look as original as I can. I was so happy to have these plates made with the number of my current plates. I figured I could just slap the new ones on since the numbers where the same. My brother told me that I would have to report them anyways because of the color. What he says makes sense. What I am worried about is that the DMV will take them away or won’t make them valid because they are fiber glass. Now the DMV did pass this thing that allows vendors to sell these plates and used as replacements for lost plates. I am not sure if this means that it is only for people who currently have black plates. What do you think?
