  1. Ignore it.  They can't do anything about it yet.  (note the word YET)

They certainly can not do anything to your licence, but you may have problems next time you go back to France.

    Read these page

Some countries have reciprocal agreements for traffic tickets, but France and UK aren't one.

Watch your speed on toll roads as they can work out your speed from the time you take your ticket till the time you pay.

  2. If you're in France with a U.K. number plate on your car, I'm pretty sure you won't even get a ticket sent to you in the post.

You were in a foreign country with a foreign car ... the French authorities wouldn't have your vehicle registration information or any of the particulars associated with your car or your number plate.

Even if they sent you a ticket in the post, you're back in Britain, and what are they really going to do about it??? They can't force you to pay.

The only problem would be if they sent you a ticket and you didn't pay, and then took your car back to France and then got pulled over by the cops and they punch you up on the computer and see an outstanding ticket.

Also you shouldn't worry about points against you because they just have your number plate on camera ... they have no idea who was driving, nor can they prove who was driving.

I know for a fact that here in Canada we only send speed camera tickets to cars with Canadian plates. For logistics purposes it's really a waste of time to send out tickets to other countries, because they can't really force you to pay them.

    I'm 99.9999999999% sure you're in the clear.

    Hope this helps.

  3. The fine is guaranteed. I am not sure about the points.

  4. There are laws where they CAN register it in the UK, but I'm not sure that they bother unless you were doing crazy speeds. Anyway, it would be cash not points.

  5. i believe that the french cannot put points on your English licence just fine you or imprison you if the offence is bad enough, however,i have heard that there are some English speed cameras located just out side the port of Calais which will end you up with points an a fine.so take it easy when you first get there!!!

  6. Everything I've heard, and everything I can find online points to the same result: you're not in trouble if you get 'flashed' as it's called here.
