  6. The majority of viruses are developed for Windows based systems.

If you are downloading picture and video, and they have an "extra" payload in them, you are protected.

However, IF you are downloading programs specific to a MAC, you are vulnerable.

As per downloading and copyright laws -

Just last week, one of my Marines said that his son was downloading SIMs 2 and was caught by the DMCA -

    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DMCA

He received a letter from the DMCA and his ISP.  The dad now has so many days to PROVE that he has a license for it!  The ISP said his account will be suspended unless it was proved that it was an infringement of the DMCA!

I was REALLY surprised until I read the letter!  The son was using a Torrent site!  Most likely a DCMA torrent!

  7. Limewire is filled mostly with PC related viruses.  Since they are viruses/spyware designed specifically for the PC, they won't have the same effect on a Mac.  They still install on the computer but since the file system structure is different and there is no registry they won't do anything.

Mac viruses are emerging but as of right now they're not a sizeable threat.  So you're perfectly safe with Limewire.

  8. Yes.

  9. You could but it would do No good.Using a mac is safer. Most malware is aimed at windows.Because they are more widely used. plus they are Easier to exploit.Since windows security is like a Rubber crutch.

  10. Yes, scan all downloads before using them...........
