If i get limewire will my apple mac get a virus? HELP PLEASE!

i really want to get limewire on my apple mac laptop but im worried itll get a virus, some people say apple macs dont get virus's but others say on limewire anything can get a virus.

so if you know that i can or cant please help me, or if you know of anything that will stop me from getting one?

maybe,, depends mainly on your anit-virus,,, check the size of your files when downloading.

dosent matter what operating system you have because MAC can get same exact viruses like windows because everyone shares the music, videos, etc... when you click on a file to downlowd you can download it from a window,mac, or linux you don't know. All you need is a desent virus protection.

No, Macs don't get viruses (if they do it's extremely rare).

EDIT: These people are annoying me (who answered) I actually OWN a Mac and have Limewire and have never had one virus... EVER!  

+ Lol these people talking about doing virus scans. It's a friggin MAC, you've more chance of a fire burning down your house than getting a virus on a Mac!!!

A virus is a malicious file that does harm to system settings therefore even though an unknown file is downloaded it will not be known as a virus because it has no danger to your system. These Windows f**s (Microslaves) seem to think that because it's a virus on Windows it's a virus on Mac, but it just doesn't work on Mac. It's not a virus at all on Mac, because it has no viral effects!

Yeah,you will get virus if you downloaded the wrong file(the virus)

The virus WOULD not harm your apple since most of the virus tar get and activate in Window so you are safe!

Some of the thing's you download on Limewire have Virus but it will tell you if your about to Download a Virus or Not. As long as you don't download one with a Virus you should be Okay.

Yes, if you're doing illegal things chances are you'll get a virus. It will be a Microsoft Windows virus though, so it won't affect Mac OS X.

Apples can get viruses they are just much more difficult to infect and there are less of them written.  If you use limewire properly there should be no problem.  Never download anything but music files and never download zipped files.  If the song you are looking for does not have more than 3 sources ingnore it - it might be fake, realistically more than 3 people on limewire would have it.

Also ignore anyhting spelt wrong or in capitals.  

If you follow this advice you should never have any problems.

Dont forget to quit limewire when finished and always look in the lower right screen for the little icon.  Right click and click quit here as well.  Limwire works by letting people take stuff from your computer (you agree this in the terms and conditions) and even if youn quit the program, unless you do this second thing at the bottom you are still allowing people to accsess your network.  Read the terms and conditions carefully.

well i say just get norton security check so if it is a danger to get limewire it tells you i have that on my computer and it tells you the bad websites before you enter them

the simple solution is download and scan the files before you open them or allow them to run its basic common sense..

1. It would be extremely rare for a Mac to get a virus of any kind.

2. You DO NOT automatically get a virus just because you download Limewire. Limewire is simply a portal. It is virus free.

3. You COULD get a virus if you download a file that contains a virus. When you download from Limewire, or any other P2P, you are downloading direct from someone else's computer and they may have viruses.

4. Why on earth do you not have antivirus on your computer, and that would stop this worry?!?
