If i get married ot an american (im canadian) i then can apply for my green card right?

and then when i get that i can live with my husband and work and then 3 or 5 yrs later apply for citizenship or dual right?

  1. You should marry an American for love, not a green card.


  2. If you marry an American, then HE can apply for a green card for you.  The rest you have right.

  3. Well, more or less. Your American spouse would first have to file the proper immigrant visa petition with USCIS and you'd need to get a immigrant visa to enter the US. After that, you woud be eligible for a green card. If you were already in the US, he'd have to file additional paperwork as well and that would eventually lead to a green card for you.
