If i get on some type of financial assistance will it effect getting child support?

i need a little help till child support comes through. anyone that has filed know it could be a while. if anyone one can help i would appreciate it

  1. Well with welfare if you get child support the money well be deducted or something like that.  I don't think it affects food stamps.


  2. If you get assistance from the state, when he starts to pay..the money will go to the state, and not you. And until he pays the state off, you wont get the money.

    I am NOT positive because this is what my mom told me so I DONT know firsthand.

  3. It's going to depend on the type of assistance you get as well as the terms of your child support order. You should talk to an attorney. Call Legal Aid, they will usually answer questions like that for free.
