Uh, no.  You give things to the salvation army as a donation - a donation meaning you do not get cash for it.  They will give you a receipt which you can write-off on your taxes.  I don't know if they put in an amount, or if you have to determine the amount.

Simple answer:   If you "give away",  you GIVE AWAY.  No one will pay you back for donating items.  You get a tax receipt to use as a deduction.   If you are wanting money for your stuff....   garage sale is the best solution.
