  1. birds arent that dirty, i think

  2. i would do it only about twice a week, but it isnt harmful to bath everyday, she just needs to preen more   check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/cockatiels.... for good tiel info

  3. bathing it all the time is bad but once a day with a light mist from        a water sprayer or something is nice for them. i used to bathe my old bird every so often and i used baby shampoo(it's nontoxic) and it gave her a nice smell but it's not a good thing to do all the time. but you can also just leave a shallow bowl filled with water in the cage so your bird can bathe/drink when it wants.

  4. no it's not bad. Some times my birds will bathe themselves in their bath bowls a couple times a day. I have read in bird books and magazines that taking a bath everyday is actually good for a bird- it gives them something else to occupy their time. Especially cockatiels, since they are in the cockatoo family and have all that dander!!!

  5. Ya that's very bad.  All of his feathers are going to fall out and he will die. I can not believe you have done this. He can bathe on his own.

You are a bad person. I hope you feel bad for your cockatiel.

  6. Cockatiels and Cockatoos don't produce liquid skin oils like parrots and parakeets.  They produce feather dust, which breaks down into oil and keeps their skin moist.  Giving them a bath every day washes away too much of the dust, and doesn't leave them enough to keep their skin healthy.

However, since our cockatiels are not wild birds, they don't have the wind, rain and elements to strip away excess dust, so they can build up too much.  Giving a bath once a week is probably your best bet (sorry, once a month is not often enough).  On warm days, use a spray bottle to gently mist your bird between baths, but don't get the feathers too wet.  And always make sure you give your bird an un-drafty place to dry off after being bathed.

    Good luck!

Edit:  To clarify...if you keep your bird in a large aviary, bathing more often will work, as the outdoor climate helps regulate their skin condition.
