okay so i really want to be a vet, i dont care how long it takes, and im going to study hard in high school and get good grades, i have been on honor role [all A's and B's] my whole elementary and middle school grades, bcuz i know i want to be a vet since 2nd grade!

so my plan is to do really good in high school, take Biology, Chemistry, English, Physics, and Calculus, and all those kind of classes to bcome a vet.

Then I am going to go to Rutgers [for 4 years], because i live in NJ and that is a very respected school. at rutgers i am going to take pretty much all the same classes listed above [maybe more advanced though]

Then i hopefully i will get into University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine [UPENN]

And study there for another 4 years.

Do you think this is a good plan to become a vet?

  1. It sounds good to me.

I'm in MA and I've heard great things about Tufts University in MA. My mom is a vet tech. It is a tough job but one that is so rewarding. Good luck to you. I'm sure you will be a great vet. Angell Memorial is supposed to be a great place to intern. It's in the Boston area. (Tufts as a potential back up)

  2. As a general plan, it sounds OK, but you are still a long way off.

My suggestion is, now that you are entering high school you will be able to volunteer at some vets and some animal shelters. If you do that you will get loads of experience, be even more excited about your career and work even harder in school to make sure you succeed. And, while you are working you can ask the vets you work with about what they think of the different schools. They are the experts! not some random people on Yahoo! By the time you are ready to apply to college you will have a good idea what the best plan will be.

If you keep focused and do well in school, then you have a good chance of turning this dream into a reality.

    Good luck!

  3. For any real chance at getting into UPenn in the end, focus on things like your grammar now. You will not need to do good, you will need to do well.

  4. A good friend of mine followed just that plan.  Good luck!
