If i go to a vet to have them cut my hamsters nails will it cost money?

  2. The brick or a piece of smooth creek rock for the hamster to play on and it will keep it's own nails trimmed. A vet charges by the type of treatment rendered. It is  a pet, why don't you get a emery  board and file them down by yourself? It only takes a tiny swipe and the points will be gone.

  3. yea, but it's not much, around $8. Hamsters don't really need their nails cut though.

  4. My vet would do my rat's nails for around $5.

    Edit to add: My vet eventually suggested putting a brick or piece of slate in the cage and raising up the water bottle. The rat had to stand on the brick to reach the water bottle and the rough surface wore down his nails. Worked like a charm and I never had to pay to have a nail trim again.
