  1. Male Siamese Fighting fish (Bettas) can not be housed together.  Females can be kept together in groups of 3 or more as long as the tank size is appropriate.

A single male should be kept in nothing smaller than a 2.5 gallon tank and you need a heater to keep the water at a consistent 78F - 82F.  A light filter is also a very good idea.  I strongly recommend a 5 gallon tank with a heater as the smallest tank size for a single male.

If you decide to keep 3 females you'll need a 10 gallon tank with a heater.

Bettas like warm water with little water movement so keep that in mind when choosing a filter.  Also, make sure you provide plenty of spots for your betta to hide.

  2. It would only need a pretty small tank, maybe the size of a bowling ball.  I kept mine in a tank about that size, and it lived to be 4 years old.  If you want to keep two bettas (siamese fighter fish), you would need another tank or buy a special tank with a built in divider.

  3. 15 litres and upwards  but remember that it needs to be up and running with a filter and a heater for at least a week even then it may not be ready so buy a test kit at you local pet store which will tell you when the water quality is ready to allow fish to live in the tank.

If you want to keep 2 then it would either have to be a male and female or two females as the two males would fight to the death one would die and the survivor would later die because he has been ripped to shreds.

    hope this helps

  4. 2.5 gallon minimum 5 gallons is better

you also need a heater and a filter is a good idea

2 males are ok if the tank is divided

1 male & 1 female are ok if the tank is divided

    2 females generally wont fight

  5. Male siamese fighters must be kept in separate tanks. They do not need to be in very big tanks. Some people keep them in specially made bowls that contain no more than 2 litres. I think is inhumane however.

You should buy a book on their care, or do some research before you buy them. Most new pets die because of ignorance.
