  1. These numbers assume an average of 4.5% inflation each year.

Interest   -    Equivalent amount after 100 years in today's dollars.

    0% (left in pocket) - $5.00

    3% - $96.17

    6% - $1,697.83

    9% - $27,666.67

    12% - $417,935.66

And for s***s and grins.  If you managed to average 15% (not likely, but possible) over that time, it would be worth $5,876,127.33.

  2. Nothing cuz the bank will have bellied up by that time and the state took your money.

  3. If your $500 is in your pocket and it is frozen together with you, when you thaw, you still have $500 in your pocket. You can buy a lof of bread maybe then. But it is still better than loosing it all because if you put it in the bank, after 3 yrs of no activity the government will take it over.

  4. about $1/2 million at 7% interest

  5. Depends on the interest rate. Say 6% interest, compounding once annually, $169651.04.
