  1. Each state sets its own rules on this.

Here in NJ, if the collision caused $500 worth of damage, or if anyone was injured, it will appear on your record whether it was your fault or not.

  2. if it's your fault, you may be screwed. if you go through the insurance to get the cars fixed anyway. also, if there is a police report.

  3. Your local DMV is notified ANY time a police accident report is filed. If neither party makes a claim, it still goes to DMV if the cops show and take a report.

  4. I've been in a few wrecks, but the only time they ever showed up on my record is when I reported it to my insurance. The only one that ever involved another car, a cop showed up, but the truck I hit had no damage (just my cheapo Toyota) and the guy didn't care, so nobody reported it. The other two we had to go to the hospital so it went through the insurance. I guess it depends.

  5. If you did not receive a citation for the accident, there is no dmv record.

Your insurance company will know about it and may effect your insurance rates.

  6. No ticket and you dont use your insurance then it will not show up on your driving record.
