If i got new wheels for my vehicle would i need to report it to insurance company or dmv?

why or why not?

(the wheels are a diffrent type and style than what was originally on it from the factory)

Generally no.  Unless they are not street certified you do not have to report them to the dmv.  If they are rather expensive, then you should mention it to your insurance company and possibly expect a premium increase, especially if your are in a medium to high theft area.  Failure to do so may result in the insurance company deny coverage or only pay for the original equipment replacement.
