If i grind ice with a grinder, can I produce snow?

I want to make snow. How can I do that? Will grinding ice work?

  1. nope, sorry, but you will get a slushy like material that you can use to make a jump, if that is your intention


  2. if you grind ice, you just make smaller ice particles, not snow.

    snow is much less dense than ice, even ice that is ground down; ground ice and actual snow are different on a molecular level.

    there is unfortunately no way to make snow at home that i know of. the manufacture of snow is done on a greater scale at ski resorts; what the machines do is they particulate water into very small water particles and spray it with very high pressure into cold, dry air.

  4. All you will produce is ground ice, it's great in drinks but lousy for skiing. Snow making at resorts, use lots of cold temperature, high pressure water and high pressure air.  Even then the product is very wet, do not ski in front of one of the machines.
