  1. You need to talk to an agent in Texas.  Search health insurance and register on one of the sites and you will be contacted by several agents.  Use a Texas address.

  2. You will be underwritten. If you have any pre-existing conditions, they may be excluded from coverage. Otherwise, the answer is yes, you can apply for coverage under an individual policy when you move to Texas. First, see if your Dad's coverage is portable-meaning you can still be covered under it, even when living in another state. You don't state your age, but, if you are going to college, you may be able to obtain coverage through the school. Those are inexpensive policies, but not comprehensive. When my daughter went to college out of state, I had to buy her a separate policy, because my existing policy didn't cover her in another state. She got a policy through Aetna.

Hope this helps. Good luck in Texas!

  3. I"m not sure what you're asking.

When you come to Texas, you bring your certificate of credible coverage from your dad's plan.  Then you fill out the applications, and apply for coverage.  The insurance companies do NOT need to insure you if they don't want to.

They give you the premium cost, and either you pay it or you don't.
