R of 10ohms and A solenoid L=0.10mH how would i work out the time constant of the circuit and its significance? i also dont know how to work out the steady state voltage of this circuit thanks for ur help anyone

  1. V = 6 volts

    R = 10 ohms

    L = 1.00E-04 henrys

    TC = L / R = 10 / 1.00E-04 = 1.00E-05 sec

    The significance of the time constant is that it will take 1.00E-04 seconds for the circuit to achieve steady state current when it is switched on.

    Solenoids are used in door bells, so a door bell with this circuit would cause a "ding" of about 1.00E-05 seconds.
