  1. Water.

  2. Yes. Just soak them in water for a while after the spirits has removed the paint just to get rid of the spirit from the brush for the next time you use the brush.

Some people prefer to use warm water but it doesn't full remove the paint from the brush.

  3. Good soapy water! and rinse thoroughly!

  4. warm water with a little washingup liquid wrap the brush with newspaper to keep the bristles in shape.

  5. water, plus some washing up liquid.

  6. just clean them with warm water but dont leave the brushes in the water for too long as the brushes go rusty i made that mistake when was distracted from washing them by me son and completely forgot about them

  7. Warm water and some washing up liquid.

Brush cleaning instructions are on every tin.

  13. Water, I use cold water, then warm to finish it off.

  14. since it isn't oil based just rinse them

with water, you only need spirits with

    gloss paint.

  15. All paint falls into one of two categories - water or oil-based.  Read the can, if it says thin the paint with water it is water based and you clean your brushes with the same, and if it says thin the paint with white spirit, you use the same to clean your brushes.

There is no need to clean your brushes every night.  If paint cannot get air, it cannot dry (except hammerite) so put oil based brushes in a pot of water overnight, just covering the bristles and the next day shake off the water and wipe with a rag.  Water based brushes and rollers put in plastic food and carrier bags and make sure no air can get in.  You can keep both for weeks like that.

Brush cleaners are harsh on bristles.  When you do eventually clean them each brush ought to take about 20 minutes.  Any paint residue you leave up inside the stock with set hard and come off in bits the next time you paint or give the next paint something to dry onto and jam up the inside of your brush.

Your matt emulsion is almost certainly water based.
