Question:

If i have a tv with 720p can i connect a blu-ray player to it. or do they only output 1080p signals?

and how about hd cable or satellite is that all 1080P or do you have an option to set it to 720? how would the picture from a 1080p source going into a 720p tv look. is it even compatible?

  1. You can use a Blu-ray player on a 720p/1080i TV.  I have a 720p/1080i TV, and I can watch Blu-ray movies on it.

    HD cable and satellite are only 1080i at best.  As far as I know, there are no channels that are in 1080p.  

    Personally, I see a noticeable difference between 720p and 1080p.  It's not a huge difference like going from 480i to 720p.
