If i have a visit visa of US for 6 months, can i apply for other visa to stay longer, Not H1B.?

I am going to come to US recently on 6 months visit visa to meet my brother and his family. Plz tell me which visa i can get to stay longer and can work in US. I am not talking about H1B, can any other visa i can get to stay longer ?
