If i have direct tv will i still need the new hd box for 2009 switch?

  1. We just went through this. You don't have to switch unless you want HD on all the local and national programs that are available in HD.


  2. From what I understand, if you have cable or satalitte tv, you won't even notice the difference. It is the people still using rabbit ears and roof top reception that will have to change.

  3. in Feb. 2009 all television broadcasts are required to be DIGITAL. HD is only one format of digital programming. The other is standard definition.

    All of DirecTV's programming is broadcast in 100% digital format, so you don't have to get anything new and you won't notice any changes.

  4. no, not on the tvs that have direct tv.

    but on the tvs that don't have directv, the one with th bunny ears, then yes, you have to add them to your direct tv package
