  1. ss# and dl are not proof of legal residency. you need to come clean with the immigration first.

  2. having an SSN and license doesn't proof legal residence. You need some immigration document e.g. a valid F-1 status, H-1B visa , L-1 ... etc. or a green card.

  3. All students other than US citizens or legal permanent residents must have a student visa to attend college, community college, grad & professional schools, etc.  If you are not a US citizen or legal permanent resident (permanent green card), you must get a student visa.

You should know what your status is here, what kind of visa you are on.  If, for example, you are here on a work visa, you cannot go to school.  People on student visas are not allowed to work.  But someone on a work visa will have an SSN, even though work visas are temporary, and do not grant permanent residence.

  4. If you are a legal alien, you simply need to provide your visa and proof of residence.
