If i have normal cable and no HD box, do i get HD channels?

I bought a sony bravia 40" and i just have cable and no digital HD box. The quality looks good tho, do i have HD or do i need a HD box?

To take advantage of 1080i (what most providers are displaying at right now) you will need an HD capable tuner.

If I knew the model # of the TV you had I could provide a better answer, but let me try to help out anyways.

If you recently bought the Television it most likely has a QAM tuner.  If it does, you will most likely pick up HD channels without the box.  To do this just connect the cable line directly to your TV without the cable box and do a channel scan.  Of course, you lose the box if you do this, but get a much better picture.  Unfortunately, if you want to get HD from the box, you have to upgrade the cable box.
