If i have the chance to go to France for a year, which place is better to go, Grenoble or Aix en Provance?

Bonjour ! Grenoble is mountainous, near famous ski resorts, and not far from Italy.

Aix en Provence is near "la côte d'Azur", at 30 kms from Marseille and mediterranean sea (120 kms from Saint-Tropez, 147 kms from Cannes !). Weather is better, but there are lots of tourists in summer.....

The two locations are completely different.

I've never been the the latter (spelled with an e: Aix-en-Provence, by the way), and I only crossed through the former, so that doesn't really count for anything. However, while I'm sure that they're both great places to spend a year, I would be inclined to guess Aix-en-Provence (Aix for short). It's supposed to be a very beautiful city, and isn't too far from the Mediterranean.
