NO you do NOT get to keep your RIFLE. It is kept at the armory when you are not in combat and when you do get to train with it you sign in and out. You wont be able to get near it unless you sign in and you only use it under higher rank supervision obviously, because its not a toy and you only use it for training, in of which, a higher rank will be in charge. . .and at a place such as a rifle range. Thats how my husband has to do it.

However when you're on a deployment in a combat zone you keep it with in arms length!!

Oh you can keep your "gun" for as long as you want, but you can't keep your WEAPON.

If you're not using it for the moment, you might keep it close by if you're in a combat zone.  If not, the armed forces like to keep their weapons in a safe place (so some people don't get any "bright ideas" about them).

You will get to maintain the gun.. thats about it.. its still urs until you seprate from the military. You do not get to physically poses it unless your on the feild or in a combat zone

No.  During deployment you keep it with you at all times.  You turn it in to your arms room when you return to the United States and only take it out to clean it and for training.  You're not even allowed to put it inside of your vehicle, you would get arrested on the spot if caught.

If you ever seen Full Metal Jacket you would know it isn't a "gun."

the only time you will wear a weapon is when you are required to do so because of the situation( standing duty, on patrol, etc)
