I just wondering that because i have a weird phone that has a poor battery and has to be charged every night... and it's a hassle to have to plug and unplug the charging wire... so will it use electricity without the phone attached to it?

  1. Yes, quite a bit actually. It uses between 60-70 percent of the electricity that it would when you actually charge your phone

Edit: I doubt any of these people have taken and Electrical Engineering classes, but seeing as I have I think I know what I'm talking about. It still uses energy and yes it still is a closed circut. There are capacitors that are constantly charging while the charger is plugged in, regardless of whether or not the phone is plugged in.

  2. It will only use power when plugged into the Phone.

  3. not unless the base charger has a little green or red light letting you know its being charged.  Otherwise you are fine.  But that little light will cost you a couple bucks a year.

And I have no clue what adam is talking about.  Electricity has to go somewhere.  Thats about as smart as statement as saying when you turn your surge protecter off on your computer that its draining electricity.   You have to unplug everything.   So what about the plug?  That is plugged into the house.  It has to drain the electricity, before it cost you.  As I said if there is a light it will drain it, but not alot.

  4. no active physics there is not a complete loop
