  1. Lengthening the clubs will do you no good unless the additional inch gives you a better swing plane, results in a better lie angle, which give you a better chance of " center face contact"  resulting in more power and hence, more distance. Before you go off and do something you really don't understand consult with a professional who does.

  2. don't do it unless you're tall.  get fit by a professional... they would be able to tell you if you need an inch (or 3/4", 1/2", etc.)

  3. I recently got fitted by Ping for my new irons.

I am 6 Feet and 3 Inches tall, my clubs have had to be extended by 0.5 inches to fit me correctly.

It's not about the length of club its all about the swing mate.

  4. unless if they don't fit you, they will make you hit 2-5 inches behind the ball and then you will loose about 10-50 yards and loose almost all of your control. I would go to a pro and get fitted, thats what I did and I shoot low 70's

  5. While clubhead speed may increase due to an increase in shaft length...it may also decrease due to not being able to make crisp contact with the ball.  If its distance you seek....get better at ball striking.  Good crisp solid contact will get you more distance than monkeying around with shaft length.....If you feel your clubs may be too short...I'd advise a trip to a club fitter to getthem and you checked out before I'd spend bucks on any shaft adjustment
