Best Before means just that, it will taste at its best before that date, it doesn't mean it will make you ill after that date.  You are getting confused with Use By which means use by that date or it could cause illness.  Don't worry!!

Best before means that it wont taste as nice as it could. You'll be fine.

No, the taste might be a bit weak but that's about all. My dad - who is 87- persists in eating all sorts of stuff that is way past its best before date, but he seems to thrive on it.

As long as there was no mould growing on the surface you will be fine.
