If i made instant mashed potaoes 4 days ago, are they ok to use in another recipe?

I want to make shephard's pie. I just dont want to make it if the potatoes have gone bad!

Give them a smell and a taste, better than any best before date...

They're going to be pretty hard from the refrigerator, and maybe dry too.  But they should be ok to eat - not really sure, since I never use instant potatoes though - but they probably have preservatives in them

If you've had them properly refrigerated, they should be ok.

I woukld say they are ok. However, if they have any smell about them other than potato, I wouldn't use them.
