If i make a nest for my male and female parakeets, will they have eggs?

i have 2 parakeets which are male and female and i was wondering if i put a nest in theie cage, will they lay eggs?oh and where can i get one?or how do i make one?

If you just make a nest on the bottom the won't necessarily breed. You should buy a nest box, I have seen them at Petco. They either hang on the outside or inside, I used shredded newspaper inside.  Plus even if the female lays eggs, they may not always be fertile.

Listen, do as the guy above me stated(buy them a nest).. but make sure you buy them that cotton stuff and leave it at the bottom..

Dont mess with the cotton.. when they feel that someone has messed up with it, then they wont use it and it will stay at the bottom of the cage.. Try to put the cotton (at the bottom of the cage) using a glove or something, as long as you dont actually touch it and leave your scent...

I also have female and male parakeets and wondered the same thing,so i went to a pet store and asked.I was told if you buy a nest and put it up kinda high,it could happen but don't mean it will.No harm in trying.Any pet store will have them.Once the babies are born you have to take the male out of the cage so he don't kill the babies.Thats what i was told.good luck .

If you put ( or hang ) a nesting box , ofcourse your birds will try to have eggs . Youc an go to pet stores and buy one ( for parakeets size ) or you can go to internet and search how to make nesting box . Have fun. TM.
