If i max bid on something on ebay & im high bidder currently & someone bids but not high enough & i win...?

Question

do i pay my lowest bid that i got on the bid for or do i have to pay the price it went up wen someone tryed to outbid me even though i still won?

like i just bid on something & am winning at $5.50 but my max is $100. if someone tryes to win & goes to like $90 & stopes & it says the high bid is me @ like $91 or w/e will i have to pay $91 or the $5.50 because i won?
