  1. They won't charge you, they will just re-book you on the next flight. Or you can get a hotel.

If you want to change your itinerary, that's when you'll be paying fees, sometimes very high ones.

  2. It depends on the reason for missing it.

If you just fail to show up on time (overslept for example), your non-refundable ticket is null and void as soon as the airplane departs the gate.  Rebooking is at the airline's discretion, but basically they don't have to give you anything.

With that said, if there is a reason for the delay out of your control (actual example, my car was hit on the way to the airport at the end of a business trip), the airlines are usually much more accommodating and usually will rebook you with documentation.

As the previous poster mentioned, a lot has to do with capacity.  How full the later flights are will affect your chances.

  3. You probably would be charged a fee depending on your airline's policy. That, however could end up being the least of your problems. If the next flight is full, or the airline overbooked your original flight; the passengers who were bumped from the early flight and are actually booked for the second flight would have priority over you.  This could potentially go on all day (especially if there is bad weather in the area and a flight is canceled or delayed coming or going..) Best thing to do is be ON TIME for your flight. I have seen passengers spend three days trying to get home because they missed their original flight. :)

  4. The short answer is: Yes.

Under those circumstances, maybe you would be better off chaging NOW to a later flight (probably still cost you, but at least then you know you're on the next flight) or just don't go to bed...

  5. On hotels.com there is a $150 charge for changing itinerary so most likely you will be charged.

  6. yeah probably. its your responsibility to get to the airport in time.
