If i mix cola and cough medicine what would it do?

cola is mostly composed of corn syrup and carbonated water and most cough meds contain alot of syrup as well to coat your throat to ease the pain when you do cough and we all know water pretty much harmless  i wouldnt think it would do very much of anything except maybe slighylt dilute it .if your thinking of doing it because you just cant stand the taste i think getting it into you  how ever you can to stand the taste is better than taking nothing at all
