If i need to remove my kitchen sink but can't replace for two week, what about the water?

I want to replace my kitchen sink, but I am in a townhome complex where five units are all attached to the same water line. I have no way to control my own water without taking down four other units. Would it work to turn off the main water line until I get the water out of the sink pipes and then close the valves that distribute to the sink and then turn the main line back on and be able to take a shower without having an issue for a couple of weeks or a month?

Are you in the USA?  It's odd not to find a couple of angle stops (little valves) under the sink.

If you do have angle stops, just turn them off & check the faucet to make sure they're working.  Angle stops usually don't get much exercise - they may drip a little.

I just re-read your post.  Just "close the valves that distribute to the sink".

There has to be a line or tap that branches off  to you from the community pipeline. You need to get a plumber to install a valve on your tap. You can  then turn it off any time without affecting the others. You would have to shut down the community line for the time it took to do this, but this should take less than a half hour for an experienced plumber.
